Today I'll be sitting at a little table at the Stevens Square Center for the Arts Third Annual Zinefest with multiple copies of my three sweet zines. I've spent weeks clearing paper jams and collating, so if you could stop by and say hey, I would feel less like a lamer. It's at the corner of 3rd Avenue south and 19th Street, above the Third Avenue Market, and it's today from 11-5 and tomorrow 12-4. There's a bookbinding workshop today at 1pm and a lecture at 4pm. Please please check it out.

i forgot to mention that erin also got me a friendship ring with "i feel so all alone" printed on it. which is appropriate right now because i am wrapped in a hangover blanket & it just started snowing & i yelled "it's snowing!" in an excited voice & no one answered me in any way. this is a new year.

Winter completes an age
With its thorough levelling;
Heaven's tourbillions of rage
Abolish the watchman's tower
And delete the cedar grove.
As winter completes an age,
The eyes huddle like cattle, doubt
Seeps into the pores and power
Ebbs from the heavy signet ring;
The prophet's lantern is out
And gone the boundary stone,
Cold the heart and cold the stove,
Ice condenses on the bone:
Winter completes an age.

i am caught in one of Richard Hamilton's early pop art collages--sitting here in a Hong Kong sweatshirt with meaningless words on it, green pumas, drinking vanilla diet coke and eating goddamn corn pops. corn pops are essentially pop art--they're an unnatural shade of yellow, sickeningly sweet, and covered in some plastic-like glaze that makes them shiny.

worse yet, i'm addicted to them.

other than eating corn pops, i've been spending time in coffee shops:

it's always bothered me that in 'winter wonderland', they respond to a hypothetical question from parson brown with "no, man." that just always seemed like a rudely cavalier way to address a man of the cloth. blame my puritan upbringing, i guess.

also, the song 'santa baby' really creeps me out.

i keep photos of everyone i love and have loved stuck up on my wall, and the fact that they all started falling down, one by one, about a week ago seems like an overly obvious metaphor, considering how subtle life usually tends to be. but it started with my mum, then high school friends, then college friends, and now i can't even find the phone numbers of the people i would like to call and i'm sorry that you're lost, i really am.

we were down on the docks, it was so cold, and the stars kept falling.

i wanted to write a happy "i'm back at college" entry, but i am too fucking upset. SOMEONE TOOK MY BIKE! my darling little blue bike that always seemed about to fall apart!

so now i'm out for first-year blood. because you know it was them.

if i wasn't going to froggy's tonight to celebrate gautham's 21st, i would watch 'pee wee's big adventure'. with a box of tissues. and some sort of weapon.

preparing to miss:
- the beijing cafe, especially its special wonton soup
- walks on the boardwalk
- st. vincent de paul's thrift store
- 'the fairly oddparents'
- rarely waking up before noon
- the 'violet days' comic in the ripsaw
- regularly stealing food and beer from mum's refrigerator
- matt
- standing knee-deep in lake superior and watching the horizon disappear

looking forward to:
- all my favorite trees
- so many of the people i love all in one place. erin next door!
- convincing gautham to walk through the snow to get pineapple pizza bagels
- publishing the first issue of the best zine ever made at olaf
- being constantly surrounded by slightly-familiar people (that small-town feeling i crave)
- actually writing regularly because i have a deadline
- having someone else make me a turkey sandwich every day (ah, bag lunch line)

lately, i've been spending most of my time thrifting, reconstructing clothing, and um, uploading photos.
